Obituary for Roy Haynie
Services for Roy Haynie have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 26, 2004, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church with Reverend Boyd Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Roy Haynie was born September 28, 1925 in Sherman, Texas. He was the son of Ezra and Ora (Barber) Haynie. He went to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 23, 2004.
Roy and Faye Virginia Baldwin were united in marriage in Sherman, Texas, on February 14, 1954. They moved to the Altus area in 1990 for North Edwards, California to be near their children. His dear wife preceded him in death in 1992.
Mr. Haynie is a veteran, having served with the United States Marines Corp for six years. He had been in school maintenance for many years before his retirement. He was a member of the Emmanual Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and also taught Sunday School. Roy was a wonderful father and grandfather and loved nothing more than spoiling his grandchildren. He also enjoyed working in his yard and trying to make his flowers grow. Another of his pastimes was fishing. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends he leaves behind.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Faye; two step-sons, Johnny and Jerry; five brothers and one sister.
Roy is lovingly survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Robert Bence of Macon, Georgia and Donna and Allen Mortimer of Altus, Oklahoma; one brother, Marvin Haynie of Sherman, Texas; eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
