Obituary for Ruby B. Heien
Ruby B. Heien, age 97 of Altus, passed away August 3, 2001. Services, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Hone, are scheduled for 10:00 am Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church of Altus with Rev. Doug Burr officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery.
Ruby was born January 31, 1904 at Roosevelt, Oklahoma to parents Luther and Fannie Burton. She married January 4, 1924 in Hobart, Oklahoma to Carl H. Heien. They enjoyed many years together, making heir home in the Roosevelt area. Ruby worked at the Con 8 Gin as a bookkeeper and secretary for many years. In retirement, Carl and Ruby moved to Altus in 1965. Ruby taught Sunday school at the First United Methodist Church, was a member of the United Methodist Women, was a charter member of the AARP and volunteered with the American Legion Ladies Auxillary. She also enjoyed crocheting and playing bridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carl in December of 1986, one sister, four brothers and one son-in-law. Ruby is survived by her daughters, Betty Springs, Colorado; four grandchildren, Tom Brunhuber of Altus, James Brunhuber of Miami, Oklahoma, Brenda Ober of Fremont, California and Brent Wheeler of Erie, Colorado and four great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Altus.
