Obituary for Ruby Jo Blackstone
Funeral service for Ruby Jo Blackstone, 94, Altus, Oklahoma will be on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 10:00 AM with Hospice Chaplain Erin Martinez officiating. Burial will be at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home on Monday, December 14, 2015 between 5-7 PM.
Mrs. Blackstone passed away on December 9, 2015 at a local hospital.
Ruby Jo Blackstone was born to Roy and Irene Pearl (Allison) Richardson in Eldorado, Oklahoma on January 16, 1921. Roy and Irene had 3 beautiful daughters, Roma D, Ruby Jo and Bobbie Jean. She graduated from Altus High School in 1938 and soon after met the love of her life Ferris Emory (F.E.) Blackstone (Blackie to his friends and family and business associates) and they had a wonderful life together as farmers and ranchers. Ruby Jo was an accomplished cook, golfer, hunter and loved to fish with Blackie. After Blackie"s death, she proved that she was a shrewd business woman, and was well respected in her local farming community. Ruby Jo"s sense of humor and her loving spirit endeared her to many she came to know over the years and she will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a sister, Roma.
Survivors include her sister Bobbie Jean Futrell: niece Barbee Jo Futrell-Riehl and husband Daniel J. Riehl; her grandniece Shelbee D. Riehl, who all reside in Colorado; a nephew Tommy Blackstone of Albuquerque and niece, Susan Neely of Tulsa and many other relatives and friends.
