Obituary for Ruth Lovetta Spratt
Ruth Lovetta Spratt, age 89, died Monday, April 29th, 2002 at Plantation Village Nursing Home in Altus, Oklahoma.
Ruth (Mims) Spratt was born March 6th, 1913, to Annie Florence and Robert Gaston Mims at Temple, Oklahoma. Her family later moved to Walters, Oklahoma, where she attended school and worked for the telephone company.
She married Raymond Austin Spratt on August 18, 1934 at Walters, Oklahoma. She continued to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, becoming Chief Operator at the Walters office. She was later transferred to Duncan where she served as Supervisor, retiring from Southwestern Bell after 45 years of service. They continued to make their home in Duncan. Her husband preceded her in death in October of 1985. She moved to Altus in June 2001.
She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Duncan and the Pioneer Association of Southwestern Bell.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews including Sally Doughty and her husband Lee, Sonya Reagan and husband Bob, Max Graham and Rae Graham, all of Altus, Oklahoma, Mary Lou Smith of Mustang, Sherry Mims Stillwell of Del City, Wendell Smart and wife Billie of Amarillo, G.L. Smart and wife Penny and Kenneth Smart and wife Charlene, all of Duncan, and Ron Graham and wife Claudia of Rhome, TX.
Friends will be received at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters, Oklahoma, between 12 noon and 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2002, followed by a graveside service at the Walters Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice or Walters Cemetery Association.
