Obituary for Sabra Elizabeth Austin Ware
Sabra Elizabeth (Austin) Ware, 84, died in Lawton, Oklahoma, on November 5, 1997. She died of a sudden illness at McMahon-Tomlinson Nursing Center.
She was born to W.C. and Lilly Austin September 26, 1913, in Eldorado, Oklahoma, and moved to Altus in 1925 with her family. She attended the University of New Mexico and was a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University.
She served in the Red Cross in Kansas during World War II.
She married Harry Ware in 1945 and established a home in Wythville, Virginia. Harry died in 1956, and Mrs Ware returned to Altus, where she taught Junior High math for many years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Sunday School, Oklahoma Retired Teachers' Association, Clionian Club and Altus China Painters. She was a weaver and served the Museum of the Western Prairie as a board member and treasurer.
She lived in Lawton since 1993.
She is survived by a brother, Harlan Austin, Carmichael, California; a nephew, William Cunningham, Lawton, Oklahoma; a niece, Ann Walker, plantation, Florida; and many other nephews and nieces.
