Sergio (Raymond) Palacios Perez, age 77, of Mangum, passed away late Friday evening, April 24, 2009, at Mangum Community Hospital.
Mr. Perez was born in Mexico on October 7, 1931, to Silviano Maria and Pascuala (Perez) Palacios. Moving to the United States in 1943, he married Delia Guajardo in 1956. He lived in the Blair area for a time and in the late 1960s, he moved to the Vinson and Reed area where he worked many years for several area farmers. In 1990, he moved to Mangum where he continued to live until his death. Sergio enjoyed fishing and gardening in his spare time, but most of all he loved spending time with his friends and family.
Preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Diamantina Palacios and one grandson, Edward Shane Nichols, Raymond is survived by three children, Lauro Palacios of Mangum, Celerina Nichols and husband Jerry Lynn of Elk City and Sergio Palacios, Jr. and wife Heather Paige of Oklahoma City; one brother, Hilario Palacios of Vera Cruz, Mexico; fifteen grandchildren; seven great grand children; the mother of his children, Delia Guajardo Palacios, and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services for Sergio Perez will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 1, 2009, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jude Shayo AJ officiating. Services are under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
