Shann Michael Darden, age 33, of Mangum, passed away late Monday evening, June 18, 2009, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital after a hard battle with cancer.
Shann was born on June 5, 1976, in Boise, Idaho to Freddie Ray and Virginia Ann (Sampson) Darden. Moving to Mangum at the age of four, he loved fishing, playing videos and anything to do with Star Wars.
Preceded in death by his great grandfathers, Toney Johnson and Cliff Willis; great grandmother, Vera Johnson; grandmother, Dorothy McNutt Beal; grandfathers, Bill McNutt and Cecil C. Sampson, he is survived by his wife, Amy (Beal) Darden; two daughters, Stormie Shanelle Darden and Mysteria Jewel Darden of Mangum; his mother, Virginia Sampson of Mesquite, Texas; his step-father, Bill Brown and wife Marie of Tulsa; one sister, Shawna Malone of Mesquite, Texas; one brother, Tony Gilley and wife Doreen of Oklahoma City; grandparents, Sam and Janice Brown of Mangum; his mother and father-in-law, Jr. and Ruth Beal of Mangum along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.
A memorial service for Shann Michael Darden will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2009, at The Church Triumphant with Rev. Tom McNutt and Pastor Shawn Johnson officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
