Obituary for Shirley Ann Robertson
Shirley Ann (Moody) Robertson, 73, long time Altus and Jackson County resident passed away Sunday, February 20th, 2011 at her home in Altus.
Shirley was born July 16, 1937, in Tishomingo, Oklahoma to Sam and Kate (Shelton) Moody. She and her family moved to Olustee when she was a small girl and graduated Olustee High School in 1957. She attended Business Classes at Altus Junior College.
She married the love of her life, Troyce Robertson at his family home in Altus on July 24, 1958. That same year she went to work for his parents, Johnnie and LueVena Robertson, at Johnnie's Steakhouse on West Broadway. She worked for them for many years. She loved her in-laws and enjoyed all her "regulars" who frequented the restaurant. Later she worked for the Hinkle family at Main Cleaners and worked several years at Gibsons and other Altus businesses.
Shirley was a small lady in size and stature but had the heart and spirit of a giant. She worked hard and played hard. To her, family was everything. She worshiped her parents and siblings and would do anything to make them happy. She was the same by her children. She worked many hours to give them the best and spent just as many hours loving and enjoying them. She and Troyce were quite a couple and it was rare to see one without the other at work or at leisure. The absolute joy of her life was her grandson Kyle. From the day he was born, she spent every available minute with him.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Kate Moody; three brothers, Jack Moody, A.J. "Babe" Moody, and H.B. Moody; three sisters, Edith Moody, Lillian "Sis" Jones and Maxine Szedeli; and by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Johnnie and LueVena Robertson.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Troyce of the home; two children, Theresa Jameson and husband Steve of Headrick, OK and Troy Dale Robertson and wife LaDonna of Altus; two brothers, Burl Moody of Moore, OK and Cecil Moody and wife Sharon of Bogata, TX; one grandson, Kyle Jameson and his fiance' Amber Fish of Headrick, OK; four step-grandchildren, Crystal Card of Altus, OK, Jason Card of Mangum, OK, Ra'Chael Kelley and husband Nathan of Blair, OK, and Chadd Card of Altus. Other relatives include Don Moody and wife Faye of Olustee, OK and their families, Raymond and Cheryl Moody of Olustee, Larry Moody and wife Sherry of Altus, Doug Moody of Dallas, TX, and Michelle Furtell and husband Josh of Frisco, Tx; Chris Shelton and wife Lavern of Tishomingo, OK, Willa Dean Adams of Altus, OK and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services have been scheduled for 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Bill Osborne officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
