Obituary for Silvio Frank Chicklero
Silvio Frank Chicklero, 87, of Altus, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011, at his home with his loving family by his side.
Silvio "Chick", as he was known by all, was an amazing man who loved his family and friends. Chick never had a bad word to say about anyone and always had a kind word for anyone he met.
Chick was born in Rosedale, Arkansas, June 1, 1924, to Silvio and Theresa Chicklero of Italy. He moved to San Francisco, California, in the prime of his life to work in the shipyards where he met the love of his life, Billie Jean Mason. They were married September 17, 1943, and remained married for 65 years until her death on June 14, 2008. He retired as a Teamster truck driver in 1983. At that time, he moved the entire family to Altus to work the family farms known as Mason Farms.
After the farms, he worked many years at the Altus Car Wash. Some of his favorite things in life were to watch his two daughters play jacks on the kitchen floor. He loved the outdoors and has taken many trips to the wildlife refuge where he watched the prairie dogs and buffalo.
Chick was a kind man with a huge heart. He loved all of his grandchildren and the stories never end of the time he spent with his three grandsons on the farm. Chick was loved dearly by his family and will be missed so much.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jean, his parents Silvio and Theresa, and one grandson, Michael Silvio Scanlan. His surviving family members are two daughters, Tommie Lee Green and husband Mark of Tulsa, Judith Ann Kastner and husband Steve of Altus; one son, Billy Joe Chicklero of Martinez, California; his sister-in-law, Maxine Grewe of Altus, and very special friend Vicky Herber of Blair; his eight grandchildren, Dawn Lynn Ramos, Ray Avila and wife Rebecca, Robert Ramos and wife Cindy, Richie Avila and wife Wicy, Mark Chicklero, Natalie Milano, Scarlett and Max; fourteen great-grandchildren, Alex, Rusten, Sierra, Cody, Shelby, Brook, Heidi, Olivia, Cody Ray, Michael, Deserea, Morgan, Kayla, and Cameron; and four great-great grandchildren, Trevor, Breiyan, Savannah, and Jordyn.
Funeral Services for Chick Chicklero will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home with Joe Poulin officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
