T.J. Strickland

T.J. Strickland, resident of Oklahoma City and former resident of Hollis, Oklahoma, on December 15, 2024, at his home in Oklahoma City at the age of forty- three.
T.J. was born on December 16, 1980, in Altus, Oklahoma. He spent his formative years in Hollis, Oklahoma, where he attended school and played baseball as a catcher. A passionate motocross enthusiast, T.J.'s drive to be the best and his competitive spirit shone brightly in everything he did. He graduated with the class of 1999 and went on to attend Barber College in Oklahoma City.
T.J. married Candice Rutherford in Oklahoma City, and together they were blessed with two wonderful children, Natalee and Dawtry. His children were his entire heart and soul; he cherished every moment spent with them. Some of his fondest memories were made playing at the park and taking them to movies, moments filled with laughter and love. He enjoyed playing basketball with his kids and teaching his son to ride motorbikes.
A devoted Christian, T.J. loved the Lord and attended the First Baptist Church in Hollis, where he was baptized as a youth. He possessed an incredible talent for art, with a particular gift for capturing faces. His artistic abilities extended to painting and refurbishing cabinets, a passion he pursued until his health no longer allowed. Even in sickness T.J. poured his life into others helping mentor others with everything he had. Whatever T.J. pursued, he consistently strove for excellence and continuously aimed to improve himself in every endeavor. He leaves a legacy of love, kindness and a unbreakable devotion to his family.
T.J. was preceded in death by his grandparents: Hershel Cunningham, Terry and Wanda Crockett, and Jimmy and Mary Strickland; his brother, Lucas "Scott" Strickland; and his partner, Kassie Visconti, who passed away two days after T.J.'s passing.
He leaves behind his beloved children, Natalee and Dawtry Strickland, his cherished parents, Joel and Tammy Strickland, and countless friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024, at McNeil's Funeral Home in Mustang, Oklahoma. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Lowell - Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
