Obituary for Talva Arlene Moore
Talva Arlene Moore, 81, long time resident of Duke, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010 in Sayre, Oklahoma.
Talva Arlene was born June 6, 1928 to George and Talva Jewell (Chesney) Couchman in Brownville, Texas. She graduated from Ron High School in 1944. On July 5, 1953, she married Robert J. Moore in Duke, Oklahoma where they made their home. She was a member of the Duke First Baptist Church where she taught Junior High Girls Sunday School.
Talva Arlene worked as a Reporter for the Hollis News and later as a telephone operator. As also was a bookkeeper for the Harmon County Rural Electric Company before her two children were born. After their births, she devoted her life to being the best mother, wife and homemaker she could be. She was a very gifted seamstress and loved to make most of Debbie"s clothes. She even made wedding dresses for a few young ladies. But her greatest love in life was being a mother and grandmother.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert in 1991; two brothers, Richard Couchman and George William Couchman; and by a brother-in-law, Merle Moore.
She is lovingly survived by her son, Gary Moore of Duke, Oklahoma; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mark Graham of Duke; two grandsons, Nic Graham of Duke and Trey Graham of Altus; her brother, Charles
Couchman and wife Barbara of Cold Water, Kansas; one sister, Annie McCoy of Hollis, Ok.; two sisters-in-law, Sarah Couchman and Joyce Moore; and by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at Lowell-Tims Chapel from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Duke with Rev. Scott Gramling officiating. Interment will follow in the Russell Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
