Thelma Marie McGehee Stearns



Thelma Marie McGehee Stearns was born February 6, 1907 at Comanche, Texas to Thomas Marion McGehee and Maud Lindsey McGehee. She died November 15, 1991 in the Muleshoe Area Healthcare Center in Muleshoe, Texas. She came to the Otter Creek Community in Tillman County with parents as a child. She attended Otter Creek Elementary School and graduated from Snyder High School. She married Ivan Stearns June 18, 1923 in Childress, Texas and he preceded her in death in August 1959. She was a homemaker, room mother and class parent for her children in the Laing School Community. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Snyder, Rebekah Lodge, in Snyder and Muleshoe. Member of Liberty Home Demonstration Club of Tillman County.

Services are scheduled for 2 pm Tuesday November 19, 1991 at First Christian Church Snyder, with Rev. Mike Doyle officiating. Interment in Fairlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Fairlawn Cemetery in honor of Thelma Stearns. Lowell-Tims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Stearns is survived by her children, Joyeline Costen, Neil Stearns, Charles Stearns, Tommy Gene Stearns, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren.

Mrs Stearns was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Stearns.
