Obituary for Thomas H. Brown

Thomas (Tom) Brown of Olustee passed away at Jackson County Memorial Hospital March 17, 2008.
Tom was born October 16, 1917 to Waters and Eva (Clinton) Brown in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Tom married his wife Neg (Muse) Brown on May 6, 1941 in Altus, Oklahoma. They were married for 66 years. Tom owned and operated Tom's Station in Olustee for 40+ years from 1959 until his retirement in 2002. Tom also served the City of Olustee as Fire Chief for 20+ years. Olustee residents could always hear a tune in downtown Olustee as Tom was always whistling while he worked. He was a local favorite with the kids as he always had a piece of bubble gum for them after school was out on Fridays. Tom enjoyed bowling and was always ready for a good game of cards or dominoes.
Tom was always eager for a road trip to Stillwater to spend time with his family and a friendly game of Pitch. The Town of Olustee honored Tom when the Mayor and Town Council proclaimed Saturday, November 16, 1996 as Tom Brown Day in Olustee, Oklahoma.
Tom is survived by his wife Neg, son Mike and wife Danna, grandchildren Bryan and wife Catherine, Michelle Brown and fiancee Doug Mauk along with 4 great-grandchildren: Hayden Brown (5), Holden Brown (5), Skyler Mauk (2) and Parker Brown (2). Sisters Willie Edna Billington and Marjorie Seifert.
