Timothy Joshua "Josh" Wilmes was born on May 4th, 1995, in Lawton, OK to parents Timothy Ray Wilmes and Robin Rene Lepinay (Villarreal). Josh passed away on November 17th, 2023. Josh is survived by his parents, sister, Haley Wilmes Benson, brother-in-law, Brandon Scot Benson, niece Emory Kay Anderson, nephews, Braye Scot Benson and Jackson Cole Benson, and grandparents, Paul and JoAnne Wilmes. Josh is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Josh is preceded in death by his grandfather, John Villarreal and grandparents Ed and Anne Horne. Josh graduated from Altus High School in 2013, from Western Oklahoma State College with an Associate's Degree in 2013, and from The University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor's Degree in Business in 2018. He was a loving son, an amazing uncle, and a great friend to many. Josh was a very warm person, always treating others with love and kindness. He was a member of the swim team during his four years at Altus High and enjoyed competing with his teammates. Josh admiring his coach and loved being a part of the team. Music was his passion as Josh was a talented musician and songwriter. It was here that he and his closest friends shared in his love by composing music. Josh and his father enjoyed several hobbies together including taking several white-water rafting trips, traveling, taking trips to car shows, and time outdoors at the lake. Josh was a true adventurer at heart. In his last years, Josh and his sister were connected deeply in their faith for Jesus, and shared scripture and teachings with one another to start their day. In his final days, Josh dedicated his life to serving others struggling with illnesses and abuse. Josh was truly one of a kind and such a gift to all who knew and loved him.
The Wilmes family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2023, at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Services have been entrusted to Lowell - Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus' only locally owned and operated funeral home.
