Tommy Ray Marshall, age 63, of Bridgeport, Texas, passed away late Friday evening, January 9, 2009, one mile north of Reed, Oklahoma, in Greer County, as the results of a motor vehicle accident.
Tommy was born on May 15, 1945, in Sayre, Oklahoma to Vernon Albert and Ruth Mable (Courtney) Marshall. Shortly after his birth, he moved to New Liberty, in Beckham County, where he began school, later moving to Willow and Elk City. At an early age Tommy developed a strong work ethic and had worked many years in the oil field. In 1963, he married Donna Lynn Fleming and was blessed with three wonderful children. In 1979, he moved to Gainsville, Texas and later moved to the Bridgeport area in 1983, where he lived until his death. Tommy had recently purchased The Farm, in the Reed Community and enjoyed working on old cars and boats, fishing, golfing and reading in his spare time.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by three children, Vernon Marshall and wife Laurie of Runaway Bay, Texas, Deitra Griffith and husband Dudley of Iowa Park, Texas and Michelle Harms of Cordell, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Crystal Smith, Tommy Marshall, Lena McCoy, Jay Fowler and Joshua Tilley; four great grandchildren, Kaden Boswell, Cooper Boswell, Kreece Smith and Talon Tilley; four sisters, Doris Marshall of Elk City, Oklahoma, Dorothy Woods of Hartville, Missouri, Sue Hollingsworth and husband Larry of Hammon and Kay Detrixhe and husband Steve of Higgins, Texas; two brothers, Frank Marshall of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Bob Marshall and wife Judy of Hammon, Oklahoma along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Tommy Ray Marshall will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at The Church Triumphant, in Mangum with Pastor Dale Webster and Pastor Shawn Johnson officiating.
Interment will follow at the Reed Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
