Obituary for Troy Dale Robertson
Troy Dale Robertson, a long-time resident of Altus Oklahoma passed away July 23, 2024, at the BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas after an extended illness at the age of sixty-two.
On October 30, 1961, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, Troyce Lavon and Shirley (Moody) Robertson rejoiced at the birth of their son, Troy Dale Robertson. Soon after his birth, the Robertson family would return to Altus Oklahoma. Troy was raised and educated in Altus. He attended Sunset Elementary, Central and Southeast Junior High Schools. He graduated from Altus High School with the class of 1980. To say Troy's work experience started young would be a huge understatement. He started working at the age of four, peeling potatoes and working in the kitchen at Johnny's Steakhouse on West Broadway. The steak house of his grandparents was a family affair, and all worked to help run the restaurant. Following his high school graduation, he worked with his uncle, Burl Moody, pouring concrete in Oklahoma City. He worked for Floyd Bush, laying tile, and then worked for Floyd Kastner working in radiator repair. He also worked for Southwest Sand, running the dredge till 2000 when he started working for H&B transportation as a heavy equipment operator. He would keep that job until his retirement due to medical reasons around 2020. Troy was an incredibly hard-working man who was very dedicated to any profession he had. He strived for perfection and his work ethic was unmatched. While in High School he purchased an Arkla Gas company truck, a Chevy step-side that was the ugliest thing his mother had ever seen. With pure determination and will, Troy worked on that truck until it had been completely rebuilt and painted a beautiful canary yellow. He loved to race his truck all over Altus and it was the fastest truck in town. Later in life, he started collecting Hot Wheels cars and toy tractors, which grew into needing to build showcases to display his treasures. Anything Troy set his mind to he could do. Troy was a hard-working man who never had a bad word for anyone. He was always willing to help anyone and give the shirt off his back. He loved his family with incredible unyielding passion, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for his wife or his family. On August 23, 1996, in Altus, Oklahoma Troy married the love of his life, LaDonna Kay. The two had been childhood friends but had grown apart. They would later meet each other in adulthood and fall madly in love with each other and to LaDonna's four children. He treated them as if they were his own. Troy enjoyed spending time with his wife, his kids, his sister, and especially his grandbabies that were his pride and joy.
Troy was a God-loving man who loved the word of Jesus Christ. He was raised Methodist and in the Church of Christ in 2006, he rededicated his life to Jesus and was baptized by Don Moody, Troy leaves a legacy of love and devotion to his wife his kids, and his entire family.
Troy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sam and Kate, Moody; paternal grandparents, Johnnie and Luevena Robertson; and his parents, Troyce Lavon and Shirley Ann (Moody) Robertson. Left to carry on the legacy are his beloved wife, LaDonna Kay Robertson; his children, Crystal Card, Jason Card and wife, Kacie, Ra'Chael Kelley, and Chadd Card and wife, Kymber; his sister, Theresa Jameson and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Jason Wayne Card, Jr., Dakota Card, Dixie Card, Alexis Card, Chevelle Card, Brooklynn Kelley, Landon Kelley, Amara Card, Adyson Card, and Haven Card; his nephew, Kyle Jameson, and wife, Leslie; two great nieces, Destiny and Journey; cousin, Shawn Morris; and best friends, DeWayne "Slack" Medders, David Meadows, and Rick Cumby.
