Tuxie (Gene) Ballard, 55, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 1995, in the Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton, Oklahoma following a brief illness.
Tuxie was born June 9, 1940, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Charlie and Etta "Terrell" Ballard. He has lived in the Altus area for the past 46 years. On November 30, 1991, Tuxie and Karen Carlisle were united in marriage in Altus, Oklahoma. He worked as an Independent Carpet and Floor Covering Installer in the Jackson County area for many years.
Mr. Ballard was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Wanda Sue Ballard.
He is survived by his wife, Karen of the home; one son, Tuxie Ballard, Jr. of Altus; two daughters and sons -in-law, Debbie and James Ray of Borger, Texas; and jana and Jeff Parrish of Dalhart, Texas; his mother, Etta Ballard of Altus; two step-children, Angela Smith and Bobby Whitley, both of Georgia; four brothers and their wives, Ed and Reva Ballard, Sam and Siccola Ballard, Carl and Lula Ballard, and Howard Ballard, and Howard Ballard, all of Altus; four sisters and their husbands, Ima and J.D. Poling of Altus, Kate Horton of Borger, Texas, Fran and Joe Johns and Faye and Clint Dill of Bedford, Texas; six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; one uncle, Bill Terrell of Muskogee, Oklahoma; and many, many nieces, nephews and friends.
