Van Martin "Buddy" Griffin, age 53, of Blair, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 25, 2014, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, in Altus.
Mr. Griffin was born in Clinton, Oklahoma, on June 15, 1960, while the family was living in Altus. The son of Van Martin and Rita Jean (Hunt) Griffin, Buddy grew up in Altus and attended Altus Schools. Living a brief time in Florida, Buddy returned to Altus and spent time serving his country in the United States Army. On November 8, 1991, he married the love of his life, Karen Sue Yocham. All of his life, Buddy worked hard as a carpenter, mechanic, finishing concrete, driving trucks and breaking horses. A jack-of-all trades, he was very talented and could fix about anything or do anything he put his mind to do. In his spare time, Buddy enjoyed drawing, playing drums, working with horses and spending time with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents and step-mom, Carol Griffin, he is survived by his wife Karen, of the home; two children, Christine Pugh and husband J.J. of Altus and James Dale Luker of Blair; one sister, Gayla Morris of Mangum; one brother, Vanice "Marty" Griffin of Altus along with brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services for Buddy Griffin will be 2 p.m., Monday, March 3, 2014, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Al Davis officiating.
