Obituary for Verble Elva Cooper
Verble Elva Cooper, age 86, of Altus, Oklahoma was born February 26th, 1910 in Boles City, TN, the daughter of the late Johnson and Etta Winningham. She was a former Granite resident, moving back to Altus in 1995 from Pilot Point, TX. Mrs. Cooper passed away Monday, August 12th, 1996, at her home after a lengthy illness.

Graveside Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 14th, 1996, in the Granite City Cemetery with Rev. Alex Maldonado officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home. In 1927, she and Arthur Andrew Cooper were united in marriage at Twinton, TN.

He preceded her in death in 1957. Mrs. Cooper was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. Also preceding her in death were her parents and two infant children.

Survivors include: four sons, Willis B. Cooper of Pilot Point, TX, Ellis L. Cooper of Bay Town, TX, Charles W. Cooper of Florida and Johnny Glen Cooper of Minnesota; four daughters, Anna L. (Sue) Phillips of Altus, OK, Betty Ruth Gibson of Pilot Point, TX, Janet Helen Warden of Farmers Branch, TX and Sandra F. Fowler of Alabama; two brothers, Carlos Winningham of Tennessee and Cletus Winningham of Tennessee; one sister, Valeta Sloan of Houston, TX; 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
