WIGINTON

Vicki Loyce Wiginton, 69, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 5: P.M., at Plantation Nursing Home. She died of heart and renal failure. She was born March 8, 1947, in Altus, Oklahoma to J.L. and Loyce "Sis" (Schnorrenberg) Wiginton. Her grandparents Ramsey and Freda (Lucas) Wiginton and Hubert and Clara (Holdridge) Schnorrenberg were pioneers in this area. Vicki attended Friendship School until Navajo School began. She was a member of the Friendship 1963 Champion Class B Girls Basketball Team and was selected as second team All-State forward. She scored the first 3 points in the championship game. She graduated from Navajo High School in 1965. She attended Southwestern State University and received her B.A. from East Central at Ada. She taught at Broken Bow and coached girls basketball and track. She taught Special Ed. at Tupelo. She married Charles Abernathy June 3, 1967. They lived in Midwest City, Elk City, and Sayre for several years. Vicki remained close friends with her school classmates over the years.

She was preceded in death by her infant son James Tracy, her parents, grandparents, her infant sisters Patsy Jean and Jimmie Lynn, her sister Jan Anderson, her nephew Kyle Anderson, and Charles Abernathy.

She is survived by her three children: Angie and Bryan MacDougall of Glenpool; Jeff and Marla Abernathy of Navajo; and Scott and Stephanie Abernathy of Morris; her grandchildren: Elizabeth, Crissy, and Bryan Charles MacDougall, Earon and Katie Abernathy, and Laura Beth, Corey, Sara Dawn, Dalton, and Tyler Abernathy; her sisters Cindy (Lionel) Cross of Navajo and Terri (Danny) Wilcoxen of Marlow, and her brother Jim (Rita) Wiginton of Okarche; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, her sister-in-law Debra Pohlson of California; her classmates; Rick, Ann, and her special friends at The Towers; her many friends at Plantation, and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home on Sunday April 10, 2016, from 6:30 to 8 P.M. Graveside Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 11, 2016 at the Altus City Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
