Virginia Mock Snell passed away Sunday afternoon, November 13, 2016 at her residence, in Altus. Virginia was born on the family farm in Altus on January 10, 1927 to her parents Ralph and Icie Mock. Virginia attended and graduated from Altus High School where she participated in the Senior Service Club, K.A.Y Club, Cheerleading, and was crowned football queen her senior year. She belonged to the Young Artist Club and played in the Twelve Piano recitals for several years. After graduating she spent two years at the Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha, Oklahoma, where she enjoyed learning to ride English saddle, loved her pottery class, learned to play golf, and sang in the Chapel Choir. In 1946 she transferred to Oklahoma State University and was a charter member of the Beta Sigma Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. On June 6, 1947, Virginia married Jimmy D. Snell at her mother"s house in Altus. Virginia received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics in 1948. As a wife and mother, she taught GA"s, Sunday School Class, was on several committees at First Baptist Church. The most important to Virginia was her participation on the Intercessory Prayer Committee for over 35 years, every Tuesday morning at 7:00 a.m. She was a member of Beta Mother"s Club, Aldonian Club, and CM Chapter of P.E.O. She volunteered for Jackson County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, enjoyed delivering meals with her friend, Letha Burris for Meals on Wheels, was active in the Round Table Book Club and attended the Coffee Cup book reviews at the city library once a month. Virginia was an avid golfer, having won second place in the Ladies" Golf Championship at the Elks Golf and Country Club. She made a hole in one on number 2 at the Altus Golf and Country Club. Virginia was a generous contributor to the minority scholarship fund at OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. Another recipient of her generosity has been the Altus Christian Academy; insuring its future growth and development. Virginia loved God, her family, and all her friends. She loved deeply, gave generously, and served well.
Virginia is survived by her children, Linda Anthony of Oklahoma City; Dr. Mark Snell and wife Lisa of Clinton, Missouri; and Betsy Koontz and husband Dr. Doug Koontz of Dallas; brothers, Paul H. and John M. Mock both of Altus; special friend, Charles Martin of Altus; grandchildren, Jayce Treumann and husband Neil of Henderson, Nevada; Sommer Anthony and husband Vidal Suarez of Tucson, Arizona; Jim Anthony of Tucson, Arizona; Dr."s Zachary and Brittany Koontz of Dallas; Katelyn Koontz also of Dallas; great grandchildren, Aubrey, Ella, and Jack Treumann of Henderson, and James Suarez of Tucson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.

Celebration of Life services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel in Altus with Pastor Doug Altom and Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Private Family Interment will be at the Altus City Cemetery.
