Weldon M. Rainey
Weldon M. Rainey, 68, passed away Monday, April 3, 1995, in the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Rainey was born October 16, 1926, in Olustee, Oklahoma to William and Ona Rainey.
He served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II in the South Pacific, receiving an Honorable Discharge in September of 1946. He then enlisted in the Oklahoma National Guard, serving in the 45yh division. During the Korean Conflict, the 245th Tank Battalion was mobilized, and Weldon was sent to Japan in 1950, the Korea in 1952 with this battalion. While serving in Korea, he was awarded the Bronze Star.
Weldon was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and a member of the VFW. Mr. Rainey had been an independent roofer in the Altus area for many years. Mr. Rainey was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marcell Rainey.
He is survived by one brother, James Rainey of Altus; one stepson, James Farmer of Lawton, Oklahoma; one step-grandson, James T. Farmer of Altus; and a special friend, Lucille Farmer of Altus.
