Tom passed away at his home in Jones, Oklahoma, on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at the age of 72.

Tom was born to Joseph Benjamin Winchester and Thelma Wade (Fisher) Winchester, on October 17, 1943, in Hazelwood, North Carolina. He grew up in North Carolina, where he graduated from Waynesville High School. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1966, and completed Technical School training in both Plumbing and Scale and Corrosion Control and Maintenance. He served in the Air Force for four years. He joined the plant and operations staff of Jackson County Memorial Hospital in 1973, where he was promoted many times, oversaw several JCMH physical expansions, and retired as Director of Plant Operations in 2006.

Tom married Janis Marie (Lovett) Winchester on December 17, 1982. He had four children; Jeremy and Amy from a previous marriage, and Jiminy and Tannah.

He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including model shipbuilding, for which he received press coverage. His lifelong passion, though, was for rock and blues guitar. He was a self-taught player, and played 6-string, 12-string, and even a little banjo. He was also a guitar collector, and built several electric guitars himself. He played in bands as both a guitarist and drummer, and had a lifelong commitment to improving his musicianship.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Janis, and by his parents, Joseph and Thelma.

He is survived by his children: Jeremy Winchester and wife Janet of Flushing, Michigan, Amy and husband Terrance Byars of Del City, Jiminy Winchester of Altus and Tannah and husband Bryan Farrington of Jones; 10 grandchildren " Amy"s son T.J., Jiminy"s children Jasmyn, Meghan and Kasen, and Tannah"s children, Katelynn, Brandon, Augusta, Donnie, Ashlyn and Benjamin; a sister, Amy Kathleen Street of Waynesville, North Carolina; a niece, Kelly Pilkington Burrell of Waynesville, North Carolina, and many other relatives and friends.
