Obituary for William A. Ballard
William A. "Al" Ballard, age 79 of Bethany, Oklahoma and formerly a longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019 at his home in Bethany.
Al was born March 26, 1940 in Altus, Oklahoma to Walter A. and Ida (Grider) Ballard. He attended school in Altus, Oklahoma and graduated in 1958. He attended Western State College and Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He was married to Jean Ware from Mangum, Oklahoma, in June 1968. Al worked for the First National Bank, in Altus from 1960 until retiring in January 2002. He loved traveling and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed visiting with friends. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus.
Al was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lewis D. Ballard. He is survived by one child Britt D. Ballard, Patricia Ballard a sister-in-law of South Carolina, special friends, Jean Stamey, numerous cousins of Altus and Frederick, Oklahoma, other family members, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at the Centennial Chapel at Altus City Cemetery followed by funeral services at the Centennial Chapel at 2:00 pm with Pastor Doug Altom officiating.
Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus.
