Obituary for William Chester (Ted) Bynum
William Chester "Ted" Bynum William Chester "Ted" Bynum Sr. passed from this life and into Heaven on November 2 2000 after suffering a massive stroke. He was 79 years old. He was born October 25, 1921 in Hollis Oklahoma to William Monroe and Margaret Daisy (McGee) Bynum. They moved to Eldorado and he and his brothers and sisters were raised on the farm. He was baptized in Sandy Creed in the Eldorado Area. He told about his life during the Great Depression and how hard his family worked. He reported for active duty in the U. S. Navy on July 29, l942. He was so proud to have served his country during World War II. He served on the Submarine, The USS Cachalot. He was Honorably Discharged for medical reasons on June 21, 1945. While in the service, he met and married, Angelena Adele (Lena) DeCarlo in New Haven, Conn. on November 3, 1942. Together, they had four children, William Chester (Chet) Bynum Jr., Karen Maurine Hooper, Michael Monroe Bynum and Camille Lenee' Johnson. In 1981, he was blessed with his first granddaughter, Kyla Lenee' Bryant. In 1987, he was blessed with his only grandson, Brady Cole Bryant. In 1997, he was blessed with his second granddaughter, Cameron Baylor Johnson. He was affectionately known to most as "Grandpa", a role he was very proud of and served so well. The most important thing in his life was his family. He is survived by his wife, Lena, of the home in Eldorado. His children and their spouses, Chet and Linda Bynum of Mustang, OK, Keith and Karen Hooper of Eldorado, Mike Bynum of Crowell, TX and Doug and Camille Johnson of Eldorado: his grandchildren, Kyla, Brady and Cameron of Eldorado: Two sisters, May Slaton of Amarillo, TX, Renie & Bob Chapman of Sanger, TX: and one sister-in-law, Izetta Bynum of Lubbock, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, (infant) William Virgil, Olen Curtis, Alton Eugene, Robert Francis and (infant) Aubry Dee and one Brother-in-law, Garland Slaton. Services for William Chester "Ted" Bynum Sr. were held Saturday, November 4, 2000 at Lowell Tims Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Chapman officiating. Interment followed in the Eldorado Cemetery with Lowell Tims Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
