Obituary for William Clarence Gorham
William "Bill" Clarence Gorham, 79, passed away, October 17th, 2011, at Plantation Village Nursing Home in Altus.
Bill was born September 14, 1932, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Clarence "Shorty" Gorham and Tessie Mae (Ingmire) Gorham. Bill married Thelma Young on January 5, 1967, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Bill was a very devoted and loving husband to Thelma for 38 years, until her death in 2005. He was retired from his lifetime career in the United States Air Force and later retired from the state after working at the Quartz Mountain Golf Course. Bill spent his final years at Plantation Village.
Preceded in death by his parents, his wife Thelma, his two sisters, Clara Young and Juanita Brown and his stepson, Jerry Wayne Harris. Bill is survived by his three daughters, Karen Ann Berry of Texas, Brenda K. Duke and her husband David, also of Texas, and Monica Renee' Gorham of Altus, Oklahoma. Two step-daughters, Darlene Martin and husband Earl of Oklahoma City and Janet Schwemley and husband Glenn, also of Oklahoma City; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for William "Bill" Clarence Gorham will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 21, 2011, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Reverend Boyd Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family will be receiving guests Thursday, October 20th, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lowell Tims Funeral Home
