Obituary for William David Combs
Mr. W.D. Combs, age 94, pioneer resident, died at his home in Eldorado at approximately 8:00 P.M. Saturday evening.

Funeral services have been set for 2:00 P.M. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Eldorado, officiated by Reverend Everett Smalts of Duke, and assisted by the Reverend Elbert Shumaker of Hollis. Burial will be in the Eldorado Cemetery under direction of Lowell Funeral Home.

Born July 19th, 1877 in Johnson County, TX, he was an early day settler, filing on land in the Creta area. He was married to the former Bertha Simmons at Olustee in September 1903. He built his home in Eldorado in 1906, this being his residence continuously thru the years. Mrs. Combs died in April 1962. He was active in his church having taught Sunday School for a great number of years, was a Mason, Oddfellow and Rebecca drill team captain. He was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Eldorado.

Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Bertha Fay Thomas of Duke; two sons, George Combs of Altus and Clifford Combs of Eldorado; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
