WRIGHT
William Douglas Wright, age 63, of Elmer, passed away Friday evening, January 9, 2015, as the result of an accidental drowning, in a private pond near his residence.
Doug was born in Borger, Texas on August 15, 1951, to William Carl and Billie Marie (Glenn) Wright. A 1970 graduate of Altus High School, Doug attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University and later moved back to Altus where he helped his dad at Carl"s Texaco. Doug later worked in the oil field, but returned to Altus to help his dad at the Texaco until his dad"s death. Moving to Texas, Doug was a heavy equipment operator and master mechanic. In 2012, he moved to Elmer to be closer to his family. In his spare time, Doug loved fishing, taking care of Aunt Sherry"s yard, visiting with the neighbors and playing with his dog, Cowboy.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by two aunts, Sherry Finley of Elmer and Kay Glenn of Altus, one uncle, Jody Glenn of Altus along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside memorial services for Doug Wright will be at 1 p.m., Friday, January 16, 2015, at the Altus City Cemetery with Don Collins officiating. Services are under the direction of Lowell-TIms Funeral Home of Altus.
