On the 19th day of July 1935, in Baltimore, Maryland, William Sr. and Annie Taylor gave life to William Henry Taylor Jr. He graduated from Montgomery County High School in Baltimore, Maryland. He then joined the United States Army where he served for three years from 1954 to 1957. He also joined the United States Army Reserve, where he served for several years. He was a Korean War Veteran. In 1959, he moved from Lawton to Altus and made Altus his home. He was a Methodist but attended New Hope Baptist Church. After retiring, he did caregiver work for several people. He was a volunteer bus driver for New Hope Baptist Church Day Care, Heavenly Tots. He also worked for the Civil Service and for the City of Altus.
He married Bobbie Faye Booker on June 19, 1961. Their children are Jerry King and Craig Booker of Altus, Oklahoma, Yvonne Willis and Pamela Gaddis of Lawton, Oklahoma. He has one daughter-in-law, Karen King of Altus, Oklahoma; one son-in-law, Lafayette Willis of Lawton, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He leaves to cherish his memory three sisters, Mary Watkins, Dorethea Taylor and Ella Smith; one uncle and one aunt, Calev and Dorothy Jackson, all of Baltimore, Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and one son, Michael Taylor in 1963.
