Early Monday, September 10, 2012 William "Bill" Riley Watkins passed away at Grace Living Center. Bill went home to be with his Lord.
William "Bill" Riley Watkins was born October 29, 1933 in Rolla, Missouri to Wilbert and Gladys "Kline" Watkins.
Bill served his country for over nineteen years and during this time he fought in the Korean War. While he was stationed in South Dakota, with the US Air Force, he met and married Maxine E. Wood and to this union a son, William, was born.
Later while he was stationed at Biloxi, Mississippi he met and married Mary E. Blain. They made their home in Mangum, after his discharge from the military. He drove a semi-truck for many years and later opened his own auto mechanic shop. He always liked helping the local ranchers with their cattle. Bill"s favorite pastime was visiting with all his friends around town. When Mary and Bill were younger, they enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing together with their friends
He was preceded in death by his birth father and two step-fathers, all of Rolla, Missouri; one nephew, Kyle Masterson and one sister, Eva Jean and her husband John Whatley of Prattville, Alabama.
Bill is survived by his wife Mary Blain Watkins, of the home; one son, William Homer Watkins and his wife Alice; his Mother, Gladys Watkins Smart; two sisters, Kathy and her husband Mike Masterson, all of Rolla. Missouri and Janet and her husband Dennis Jaggi of Edmond, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Scott Riley and Lance William Watkins; four nephews, Greg and Ryan Jaggi, Michael Whatley, Jesse Masterson, and a niece, Shelly and her husband Bill Coates along with numerous great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by three brothers-in-law, Wylie, Richard and Kirk Blain and two sisters- in- law, Helen Aebischer and Carol McMaster and many friends, who are left to remember his life here on God"s earth.
At his wishes, Bill was cremated and a memorial will be held at a later time, with Greer Funeral Home in charge.
