Wilma Pauline Duckworth, age 81, of Garland, Texas, passed away, Monday November 24th, 2014, in Garland, Texas.
Mrs. Duckworth was born in Lake Creek, Oklahoma on November 18, 1933, to Jesse Murrel Leckie and Beula Lee (Colson) Leckie. In her youth, Pauline helped with the family farm and occasionally worked at the Willow Lumber Yard with her father. Graduating salutatorian from Lake Creek High School in 1951, she moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma where she attended Oklahoma Baptist School of Nursing, graduating in 1954. Pauline later worked at the Muskogee Hospital, Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri, St. Anthony"s Hospital in Oklahoma City, and Coyne Campbell Psychiatric Hospital (later known as Willow View) in Spencer, Oklahoma where she served as the assistant director of nurses for over fifteen years. Her last twenty working years were spent at Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma where she worked in the psychiatric ward. Retiring at age sixty-five, she cared for her mother, until her death. Throughout her life she provided a home for many family members who needed her care and a place to rest. On October 1, 2011, she moved to Garland, Texas where she lived until her death. In her spare time she enjoyed making jewelry, sewing and reading.
Preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Wanda Haney, she is survived by two daughters, Terri Ann Gleichman and husband Brian of Rowlett, Texas and Karen Kay Smith and husband Bill of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one sister, Glenda June Miller and husband Bob of McAlester, Oklahoma; one brother, James Murrell Leckie and wife Pauletta of Midwest City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, August Brittany Fletcher, Taylor Rahne Fletcher, William Rand Gleichman, and David Kyle Gleichman, along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Wilma Pauline Duckworth will be held at Greer Funeral Home in Mangum, Oklahoma at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 29th followed by graveside internment at the Willow Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum, Oklahoma.
